What does an expat need in order to buy in AUSTRIA?
If you are an EU citizen there are no barriers for you to buy a property in Austria. Citizens of third-party states may also buy property but there may be some restrictions based on the region you are looking in such as Tyrol and Vorarlberg. The rate of a deposit in Austria is 10% of the sale price. It is also important to remember that the contract exchange and entry into the land register will be done by a Notary. For foreign nationals, payment for the property can be made through the Notary for a fee of 4.5% of the property’s value.
