"Spain, the beautiful country of wine and songs"
YOUR PLACE IN THE SUN IS WAITING
In Spain the rain really does stay on the plane – as the popular saying goes. Known as Europe’s sun-trap the Mediterranean nation’s sunniest areas sees over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year (according to the Spanish Statistics Institute). That means more than a third of the entire year is bathed in sunlight.
Spain is a mainstay of the relocation, second home and buy to rent property market. If you’re looking to buy a property in the land of tapas, wine, long beaches and beautiful countryside then the good news is the process has been well defined over the years.
RE/MAX is one of the most recognized and trusted real estate brands in the region, and with over 1,000 associates working in over 90 offices across the country, you’re never too far away from an expert who can help.
What types of properties are available?
In Spain there are a wide variety of property types for sale. If you’re looking in urban areas, then apartments and condos can be expected. But venture a little further out of the city and you can find townhouses, villas, residential housing estates, bungalows and farmhouses. Spain is still an attractive location for more and more foreign buyers wanting to move to rural areas, or Spain’s famous coastal regions.
What does an expat need in order to buy in SPAIN?
Spain actively encourages investment from foreign investors, both as a potential resident or non-resident of the property. There are no limits for non-Spanish citizens to buy property in the region: whether it's commercial, residential or land. Purchasing a property worth more than €500.000 could entitle the purchaser to a ‘Golden Visa’ – a long-term residency permit for those investing over a certain amount in the country.
To buy a property in Spain all the necessary documents must be translated by a recognized translator and provided to a Notary, the Land Registry and financing bank.
Mortgage conditions are the same for foreigners as they are for Spanish passport holders.
